Local Culinary Competition Winners Announced!

‘PLENTY OF FLAVOUR’ IN THE BAY OF PLENTY - WINNERS ANNOUNCED!

The ‘Plenty of Flavour’ culinary competition winners were announced last night at an awards function attended by local restaurants and food producers.

The competition ran for 6 weeks and finished on 1st November promoting the ‘buy local’ theme by showcasing talent in the local hospitality sector and supporting the Bays’ food and beverage producers. Locally inspired ‘signature’ dishes were created utilising the best of locally available ingredients, to highlight the fresh and bountiful food and beverage produced right here in the Bay of Plenty.

Participating restaurants included: Harbourside Restaurant & Bar, Two Small Fish, Bravo, Tay Street Beach Café, Mills Reef, Halo at the Sebel, Esplanade at Omokoroa, Nautilus Café, Astrolabe, Twickenham at Katikati, RSVP Cherrywood and Mount Bistro.

Competition Ambassador and local celebrity chef, Peter Blakeway, says “we produce some of the best food and beverage right here in the Bay. This competition makes perfect sense to raise the profile of our region as both a producer of premium food and beverages and a vibrant hospitality trade”.

Winners in the competitions three categories were:

• Consumers Choice - Mount Bistro
• Casual Dining - Tay Street Beach Cafe
• Fine Dining - Two Small Fish
